Dionysios Antonopoulos is a Naval Architect & Marine Engineer Msc (University of Newcastle upon Tyne) and further studies in Maritime law (UCL & Queen Mary). He has been working 5 years in Wärtsilä Switzerland, in the department of marketing and newbuilding projects and then appointed as Portfolio Manager for 2-stroke engines in Wärtsilä Switzerland.
At 2013, he returned to Greece as Technical Manager for 2-stroke engines for Greece and Cyprus and further appointed General Manager, Marine Solutions Sales, responsible for newbuilding projects for Greece.
Prior working in Wärtsilä he has worked for a shipping company and also has seagoing experience.
Stamatis Bourboulis, General Manager, Euronav Ship Management (Hellas) Ltd
Stamatis Bourboulis is the General Manager of Euronav Ship Management (Hellas) Ltd. since its inception in 2005.
In 1990 he joined the Technical Department of Ceres Hellenic Shipping Enterprises Ltd and in 2000 undertook the position of Technical Manager.
He graduated from the National Technical University of Athens as a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer and has worked in the Chemical Industry, Ship Building and Ship Repair Shipyards in Greece.
He is a member of Intertanko Safety and Technical Committee, DNVGL and RINA Greek Technical Committee.
Stephen Burak, Senior Marketing Manager, Drew Marine
Stephen Burak is the Senior Marketing Manager of Drew Marine, with a technical focus and 30+ years of experience in fuel and water chemistry management, to improve performance of boilers and diesel engines, and reduce emissions from combustion. His work included development of a heavy fuel homogenizer, for which Drew Marine was awarded a US Patent.
Prior to his current position at Drew Marine, he sailed aboard U.S. Flag vessels, and held technical positions at NRG Energy and ABB Turbocharger.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, and a Marine Engineer license from the U.S. Coast Guard, as well as, a stationary engineer license in the State of New Jersey. He is also a member of the Society of Marine Port Engineers (Port of New York).
Nancy Chrysanthopoulou, Country Manager, Pole Star Applications Ltd

John Cotzias, Projects & Finance, Xclusiv Shipbrokers Inc
John N. Cotzias, currently acting for third consecutive term as the President of the Hellenic Shipbrokers Association, and has 30 years of experience in Shipbroking. His family has been the oldest Shipbroking family in Greece, active in both Sale and Purchase and Chartering of ships since 1893 and John represents the 4th Generation of continuity presently enjoying 125years in Shipbroking. Presently, he is one of the co-founders of Xclusiv Shipbrokers Inc.
He is presently maritime advisor for NATO’s TGOS and AMSCC and he has been a Maritime Advisor for a number of Greek and International Shipping companies and has appeared in various forums and conferences as a panelist and guest speaker in both Greece and abroad and was the producer and co-host of first weekly Shipping Program aired live on Greek TV. Mr. Cotzias has completed a vast number of sale and purchase transactions, while he has put together many complex projects.
John N. Cotzias holds an MSc degree in Shipping Trade and Finance from City University CASS Business School (UK) and also holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Buckingham.
Stamatis Fradelos, Director, Business Development, ABS
Stamatis Fradelos is Director in ABS’ Business Development team. The Business Development team is responsible for formulating and implementing business development strategies to help ABS meet its strategic objectives and providing insight into future business initiatives and market drivers for inclusion in local and corporate business plans. Stamatis represents ABS on the IACS Environmental Panel.
Prior to joining ABS, Stamatis worked as a marine field surveyor for five years at the Hellenic Register of Shipping and spent six years at Lloyd’s Register as a Plan Approval Surveyor.
Stamatis has a M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, a M.Sc. in Marine Technology and Science and a M.Sc. in Engineering - Economic Systems.
Volkmar Galke, General Manager, Winterthur Gas & Diesel Ltd
Volkmar Galke joined Winterthur Gas & Diesel Ltd in 2014 (General Manager, Deputy VP Sales & Marketing) before working 10 years in the 2-stroke turbocharger business of MAN Diesel & Turbo prior to that 12 years in Switzerland for ABB/ALSTOM and SIEMENS.
Volkmar holds an Executive MBA degree from European School of Management and Technology (Berlin, ESMT), a postgraduate Degree in Business Engineering (St.Gallen, Switzerland) and a Master’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering (Aachen, Germany).
After living in several cities in Germany, in Sydney and in Zürich he and his wife now living in Munich and Winterthur.
Volkmar’s spare time is filled with sailing (maintaining) their boat, racing and organizing sailing trips at deep sea.
Emanuele Gariboldi, Managing Director, Ecospray Technologies s.r.l., Carnival Corporation & plc
Emanuele Gariboldi is Director Marine Technology in the Corporate Shipbuilding Department of Carnival Corporation. Since 2017, Emanuele has been assigned as Managing Director of Ecospray Technologies S.r.l., a Carnival-controlled company, based in Italy.
Prior to joining Carnival, Emanuele worked for the A.P. Moller–Maersk Group as Chief Commercial Officer Americas for Svitzer, based in Miami, USA and as Country Manager for Svitzer Bahamas. Previously, he held the position of Executive Vice President for Quality Services Group, a EPC contractor in the energy and maritime industries in the Caribbean.
Emanuele Gariboldi holds a Master Degree (M.B.A.) from Columbia Business School in New York as well as a Bachelor (B.Sc.) in Business Administration from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy. From 2003 until 2015 he held the position of Honorary Consul General of Italy in Bahamas.
Haris Giantzikis, Technical Manager, Arcadia Shipmanagement Co Ltd
Charalampos (Haris) Giantzikis holds a High National Diploma (HND) in naval architecture, a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in mechanical engineering from City University of New York.
He launched his career in 1979 as assistant superintendent engineer at A. Halcoussis.He worked as superintendent engineer at Tsakos Shipping, Piraeus (1987-1991) and as senior superintendent engineer at Seven Seas Maritime in London (1991-2001). He was fleet manager at Marmaras Navigation (2001-2002) and technical manager at Tsakos Shipping (2002-2005). From 2005 to date he holds the position of technical manager at Arcadia Shipmanagement.
He is member of ABS European Technical Committee, Bureau Veritas Hellenic Marine Technical Committee, DNV GL Greek Technical Committee, Lloyd’s Register Hellenic Technical Committee, Class NK Greek Technical Committee and is a member of the MARTECMA council.
George Gratsos, Chairman, HELMEPA
George Gratsos was born in Athens.

He is Chairman of HELMEPA (Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association).

On the BoD of U.K. Freight Demurrage and Defence Association (London) [the largest mutual legal cost insurer].
He was President of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping from 1996 to 2000 and from 2004 to February 2016.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of BIMCO, a member of the Executive Committee (1993-1997) and Vice President (1997-1999).
He was Vice-Chairman of HELMEPA.
Former member of the Board of Directors of Tourist Development Company (Greek tourist property company owned by the Greek state).
He is also a member of many international shipping organizations and has lectured at universities in Greece and abroad.

Mike Guggenheimer, President & CEO, RSC Bio Solutions
Mike joined RSC 10 years ago and currently serves as president and CEO of RSC Bio Solutions and its sister company, RSC Chemical Solutions (RSC). Mike initiated RSC’s move into industrial biotechnology with a 2012 investment in Terresolve Technologies, a leading biolubricant company with a 20-year record of accomplishment. This platform has developed into a global leader in performance environmental chemicals with a unique focus on marine applications.
Prior to joining RSC, Guggenheimer was an operating partner for Blackstreet Capital Management, a private equity group that focused on control buyouts of under-performing corporate orphans. Guggenheimer was responsible for two portfolio companies: Fanfare Media Works, where he served as chairman, and Houston Harvest Gift Products, where he was vice president and vice chairman. He also held a variety of general management positions for Milliken & Company, from manufacturing management to strategic business development.
Guggenheimer holds a B.A. in psychology from Davidson College and an M.B.A. from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.
Beat Güttinger, Head of Tekomar, ABB Turbo Systems Ltd
Beat Güttinger joined Sulzer Brothers back in 1987 and spent all his professional live in different fields of the engine designer. R&D, Field and Technical Service, Commissioning, License and New Building support.
In 2010 he co-founded of Tekomar who developed products to optimize engine operations and consequentially contribute in saving fuel oil and cylinder lube oil cost. Since 2018 Tekomar belongs to ABB Turbo Systems.
Christos C. Hadjigeorgiou, Managing Director, Almi Marine Management SA
Christos Hadjigeorgiou is the Managing Director of Almi Marine Management SA, since 2014.
He holds an M.Sc and B.Sc in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from The University of Glasgow.
He worked in Ship Building and Repair Shipyards and Ship management Companies before joining Almi Marine in 1998 as the Technical Manager.
He is a member of ClassNK and Lloyd’s Register Greek Technical Committees.
Stavros Hatzigrigoris, Managing Director, Maran Gas Maritime; Chairman, MARTECMA
Stavros Hatzigrigoris is the current Managing Director of Maran Gas Maritime Inc., a position which he has held since 2003. For the years 1992 to 2012 he held the position of Managing Director of Maran Tankers Management Inc. Stavros joined Anangel Shipping Enterprises S.A. in 1981 as a Superintendent Engineer.
He holds a B.Sc. degree in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from University College London, an M.Sc. degree in Marine Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and has studied Management of Ship Operations in the University of Strathclyde.
He is Chairman of MARTECMA, a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers and has served as one of the SNAME International Vice Presidents. He is a member of the ABS Technical Committee, the Chairman of the DNV-GL Technical Committee and a member of the Greek Technical Committees of LRS, KR and CCS.
Michael Jeppesen, Promotion Manager, MAN Energy Solutions
Michael Jeppesen obtained a Master of Business degree in August 2017, “The Blue MBA” within Shipping & Logistics from Copenhagen Business School. Further, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering obtained from Copenhagen Teknikum University in 1989.

Gregory Kazantzis, Technical Resource Manager, Maritime Service Centre & Advisory, DNV GL
Gregory Kazantzis is currently the Technical Resource Manager in Maritime Service Centre & Advisory of DNV GL Piraeus office. He joined DNV in 2002 working in Pusan Korea and Piraeus offices for approvals, precontracts and technical topics for new buildings and ships in operation. Before joining DNV he was the Head of Hellenic Plan Approval Office of Bureau Veritas. Started his career in the Design department and as Head of CAD/CAE department of Elefsis Shipyards.
He holds a M.Sc. degree in Marine Technology from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and a Diploma in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens.
John Kokarakis, Technology & Business Development Director HBSA Zone, Bureau Veritas
Dr Kokarakis a 1979 graduate of National Technical University of Athens, holds PhD (1986) and Masters degrees in Naval Architecture (1983) and Mechanical Engineering (1984) from the University of Michigan.
He worked for over ten years as a consultant undertaking technical problems worldwide. His specialization was in the area of technical investigation of marine accidents. In his capacity as a forensic engineer he participated in the technical investigation of the Exxon Valdez grounding, the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster, the drillship Sea-Crest capsize, the Piper Alpha fire and explosion, the Aleutian Enterprise foundering in Alaska as well as many other accidents of less notoriety.
The last twenty years he works in Greece, in the area of classification. He is today the Technical Director of Bureau Veritas in the Hellenic, Black Sea & Adriatic Zone, responsible for the smooth technical operation in the Zone as well as in the harmonic cooperation with the BV offices worldwide to the benefit of the BV clients.
He is a member of SNAME since 1976 and a Fellow of the Society. He served in various capacities, being currently the Chairman of the Greek Section since 2014.
Panos Kourkountis, Technical Director, Sea Traders SA
Panos Kourkountis is the Technical Director of Sea Traders SA. He studied Naval Architecture and Mechanical Engineering in the National Technical University of Athens. Since 1994 he worked as Superintendent, Site manager of new building projects, Technical Manager and Technical Director of Andriaki Shipping Co. Ltd. In January 2018 he joined Procopiou Group of companies as Technical Director of Sea Traders SA.
He is a member of Hellenic Technical Chamber (TEE), ABS Europe Technical Committee, Lloyd’s Register Hellenic Technical Committee, DNV Greek Technical Committee, RINA Technical Committee, Marine Technical Managers Association (MAR.TEC.MA), Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers SNAME, Naval Architects Association of Greece, Mechanical Engineers’ Association of Greece, Hellenic Institute of Marine Technology (ELINT).
Maria Kyratsoudi, Global FOBAS Business Development Manager, Lloyd’s Register
Maria Kyratsoudi joined Lloyd’s Register in 2009 and work as Global FOBAS Business Development Manager. Her primary responsibility is to look after and expand the global customer base for FOBAS as well as to provide specialist technical advice on fuel quality and on-board fuel management. Maria frequently is invited to speak in various industry organisations meetings (Intertanko, Martecma etc) and other fora on fuel quality testing issues, alternative fuels Sulphur 2020 matters.
Prior to joining Lloyd’s Register, Maria worked as a plan approval engineer at Germanischer Lloyd.Maria Kyratsoudi holds an MSc in Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. She combines currently her professional life with studies for an LLM.
Manos Migadis, Newbuilding Manager, Dynacom Tankers Management Ltd
Manos Migadis is a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer graduated from National Technology University of Athens (NTUA) in 1985. From 1986 to 1993 he dealt with newbuilding projects in Greece including a Hydrographic & Research Vessel for the Hellenic Center of Marine Research (HCMR), a Hydrographic & Ocean Research Vessel for Hellenic Navy, a Passenger ship, two Mega Yachts etc.
In 1994 he joined Dynacom Tankers Management as a Superintendent Engineer and Fleet Engineer. Since 2000 he has been Dynacom TM’s Newbuilding Project Manager. In 2004 has been appointed as Newbuilding PM of Dynagas Ltd. He was responsible for the construction of newbuilding Bulkers for Sea Traders SA from 2008 till 2013.
He is member of Technical Committee of American Bureau of Shipping, Bureau Veritas, Lloyds Register of Shipping and Chinese Classification Society. He is a member of Hellenic Dipl. Naval Architects Association (ΣΔΝΜΕ) and the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME).

Career at MAN started in Design department for small-bore engines, after two years transferred to Two-Stroke Operations. Now more than 20 years’ experience in Two-Stroke Operations.
Bill Stamatopoulos, Business Development Manager, Bureau Veritas VeriFuel
Bill Stamatopoulos holds a Bachelor in Business Administration and an MBA wit specialization in Total Quality Management from the University of Leicester.
He joined Det Norske Veritas (DNV) in 1991 and in 2010 Bill became the Regional Manager of DNV Petroleum Services for Europe, responsible for sales, lab operations, technical, surveys and consultancy.
Since 2004 he is appointed at the Hellenic Organization for Standardization, Committee 66 for Petroleum Products, by the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping.
Bill is a co-Author of 'Marine Fuels', a specialized book in shipping, published in June 2008 and the main author of the new edition published in 2018.
During the last 15 years, Bill has given several presentations and training courses on all fuel- related issues and has also been involved in major bunker claims as a fuel expert.
From October 1st, 2015, Bill joined Bureau Veritas as Business Development Manager for the newly established department of VeriFuel - Marine Fuel Services.
Miltiadis Synefias, Technical Director, Pleiades Shipping Agents SA
Miltiadis Synefias graduated from University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne where he obtained from his BSc degree in Marine Engineering in 1980 and his MSc degree in Marine Technology in 1981.
He commenced his career in the Passenger Cruise industry by joining Royal Cruise Line as Sup’t Engineer from 1984 to 1989, and Chandris / Celebrity Cruises from 1989 to 1995. During this period he was extensively involved in passenger cruise vessel new buildings, conversion and repairs.
In 1996 he was appointed Technical Director of Chandris Hellas, owners / managers of a mixed fleet of VLCC / aframax / panamax tankers and panamax bulk carriers, until 2002.
From 2002 to date he is the Technical Director of Pleiades Shipping, owners / managers of a fleet of LR1, LR2 and MR tankers. In this period he has experienced new building deliveries from S. Korea and Japan, and very lately the SOx scrubber solution as being applied to some of the new buildings in South Korea.
He has been one of the founding members of MARTECMA and now member of the council. He participates in the Technical Committees of three major Class Societies.
Masuaki Takashima, Manager, Fuji Electric Co, Ltd
Today, the entire world is facing with energy and environmental issues. Fuji Electric has been innovating various high technologies since 1923, doing our best to contribute to the whole world in the fields of industrial and social infrastructure including the world’s smallest SOx removal cyclone scrubber for marine vessels certainly.
I am very proud as one of Fuji Electric members to attend Greener Shipping Summit 2018. I have been in charge of many products and system for many industrial fields in Fuji Electric until now, such as instruments, PLC, Drive & Control System, EMS for iron and steel plant, cement plant and so on. From now on, I will do my best to contribute shipping industry using Fuji Electric EGCS.
Antonis Trakakis, Technical Manager, Arista Shipping; Chief Technology Officer, Project Forward
Antonis Trakakis has graduated from Mechanical Engineering dept of NTUA and carried out graduate studies at von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics in the field of Turbomachinery.
Currently he holds the position of Technical Manager at Arista Shipping where he joined in 2010.
As Technical and Environmental Manager of Superfast Ferries he has successfully addressed all issues relevant to operation of ships in sensitive areas like the Baltic Sea.
Antonis has worked with all kinds of internal combustion engines, ranging from gas turbines, to all sizes of four stroke, and two stroke engines, and one of his special concerns has been the formation and control of emissions, engine efficiency and performance monitoring.
Maro Varvate, Business Development Manager, RINA Hellas Ltd
Maro Varvate has a 17 years experience in shipping with focus in business development, strategy and planning. She is currently Business Development Manager in RINA. She holds a MEng in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from National Technical University of Athens, an MSc in Corporate Finance from SDA Bocconi, Italy and an MBA from Athens University of Economics and Business.
Maro has worked as LNG Shipping Specialist in Qatargas where she was in charge of the chartering desk and advised on a number of LNG optimization projects. She held the Director of Trade and Finance position within the Naftorade Group and led the company’s expansion into a global specialized cement trader, shipowner and operator.
Maro is a member of various professional communities. She is married and mother of two children.
Nikolaos P. Ventikos, Associate Professor, Laboratory for Maritime Transport, National Technical University of Athens
Dr Nikolaos P. Ventikos is an Associate Professor in the Laboratory for Maritime Transport of the Division of Ship Design and Maritime Transport at the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NA&ME) of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. He is Head of the Maritime Risk Group (MRG) and of the Naval Engineering Committee of the Technical Chamber of Greece. Dr Ventikos’s expertise lies with marine safety; risk analysis/assessment; (oil) marine pollution; crew centered design; human factors and reliability; salvage engineering; maritime transport analysis; resilience engineering; port operations; systems dynamics and engineering, and statistical/probabilistic modelling.
At NTUA, he has coordinated/participated in several major research projects in the areas of maritime transport, marine safety, marine salvage, environmental protection/confrontation, and port operations. Dr Ventikos has published his work in peer reviewed journals such as Journal of Hazardous Materials, Human and Ecological Risk Assessment, Maritime Policy and Management, Ocean Engineering, Reliability Engineering and System Safety, Marine Pollution Bulletin etc. He has given over than 100 lectures at various international scientific conferences and symposia with topics relevant to his expertise. Dr Ventikos was awarded the G.P. Livanos Grand Prize on Environmental Issues sponsored by the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping (2000). Dr Ventikos is very fluent in Greek, English and French and he has basic knowledge of Arabic.
Kostas Vlachos, Chief Operating Officer, Consolidated Marine Management Inc
Kostas Vlachos is Mechanical / Electrical Engineer graduated from Technical University of Athens.
For 15 years he worked as a representative member for the Hellenic Flag Administration in IMO and EU in Safety and Environmental committees.
He is currently the COO of Latsco Shipping Ltd and the Managing Director of the subsidiary company the Consolidated Marine Management Inc. having full control and responsibilities on technical and operational matters of the vessels belonging to the corporate company.

David Watts, Global Commercial Manager, Pole Star Space Applications Ltd
David Watts has been involved in the financial markets for over 30 years, specialising in the commodity and energy sectors. He started out as a trader of base and precious metals, moving to the energy, agricultural and other exchange-based and OTC markets over time. He then moved to Reuters/Thomson Reuters, spending 25 years in a number of global leadership roles before joining the Intercontinental Exchange following their acquisition of Interactive Data. In 2016, David created his own consulting practice where he helped define and support Pole Star through a significant restructuring programme.
David formally joined Pole Star as Commercial Manager in January 2018 and is responsible for all sales and marketing activity while directing the product roadmap to ensure Pole Star meets the needs of their global customer base.
